Elektriautode akusid pakkuv ettevõte Britishvolt teatas, et on sõlminud lepingu Briti valitsuse toetatud uurimisinstituudiga, et töötada välja suure niklisisaldusega ja suurema energiatihedusega materjale masstootmiseks.
Britishvolt has struck a two-year, multi-million pound deal with the UK battery industrialisation centre (UKBIC) to develop and assemble the next generation of sample batteries for mass production and commercialisation. Production will begin in 2023 at the company's 30 gigawatt hour (GWh) facility in Blythe, UK. It will be built in three phases, producing battery packs for more than 300,000 vehicles a year by 2027 when it reaches peak production.
The UKBIC is a government-funded body designed to help the UK automotive industry bring new battery technologies to market.
Britishvolt said on Friday it had secured £1.7bn in government support for its planned battery plant in the north of England.
